Make your AI use Geistra automatically

Connected AI apps use Geistra when you ask. Add a few lines to your app's instructions and it checks Geistra at the start of each task, picks up what you and the people you share with changed, and keeps your records current as it works, without being asked.

First, connect Geistra

The instructions only work once Geistra is connected to the app: Claude, ChatGPT, or any app that supports MCP connectors, at https://mcp.geistra.com/mcp.

Apps rename their menus often. If one has moved, look for the app's custom instructions, rules or personal preferences.

# Geistra

Geistra is where my work, plans and records live. Use it without being asked;
I shouldn't have to say "check Geistra" or "save this to Geistra".

## At the start of a task
- List my Geistra Spaces and look for one that matches what I'm working on
(project, client, repo or topic name). Inside it, look for the matching
collection (plans, tasks, to-dos, trackers, notes), records, skills, or a
  handoff someone left me.
- If something matches, catch up on what changed since you last looked,
including changes from my other AI apps and other chats, and tell me
anything that matters. Then read the relevant records (plans in order,
open tasks) and work from them.

## While working
- Keep Geistra current as things happen, not only at the end: update a task's
status when a step starts, finishes or gets stuck, and add notes with what
was done, ids, decisions and what's left.
- Record decisions and new facts (account ids, URLs, settings) in the matching
record, so the people I share the Space with, and my other AI apps, can pick
  up where you left off.
- New work that belongs in an existing Space: add it there, using that Space's
existing collections and field names. Ask Geistra where it belongs and
search first, so you don't create a duplicate.
- When updating a text field like notes, keep what was there and add to it.

## Limits
- Don't create a new Space or collection without asking me.
- If nothing in Geistra matches the task, just do the task; don't force it.
- If Geistra isn't connected, say so once and carry on.

Short version

For settings boxes with a length limit.

Geistra is where my work, plans and records live; use it without being asked. At the start of a task, list my Geistra Spaces and look for one that matches the topic. If one does, catch up on what changed there (including from my other AI apps and chats), mention anything that matters, and work from its records. While working, keep it current: update task status and notes as things happen, record decisions and new facts, and add new work to the matching Space using its existing collections and field names (search first; no duplicates). When updating notes, keep what was there. Don't create a new Space or collection without asking me. If nothing matches, just do the task.

Make it yours

  • Name the people you work with, so the AI writes notes for them (“so Dana and the team can pick it up”).
  • Name a Space to use by default (“for client work, use the Clients Space”).
  • Keep the limits. They stop the AI from creating Spaces and collections you didn't ask for.

Or ask your AI: “How do I make you use Geistra automatically?” It reads Geistra's own guide and gives you this text.
